Grade 50 Plate 100,000 Pound FloodwallAvenue Fabricating, Inc. was contracted to design and manufacture a floodwall for a public sector client in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Working entirely with grade 50 plate with SSPC-SP6 surface preparation, the floodwall consisted of three plate girders with 2" thick flanges and 1" of webbing, which ran the length of the floodwall. We then sheeted the floodwall with plate to form a watertight seal. We finished the floodwall with a 3-coat epoxy system. Throughout the entire manufacturing process, the tightest tolerance we upheld was 1/16". The final floodwall, which rides on casters on top of a rail, was shipped as one complete unit, weighed 100,000 pounds, and took 9 months to complete.
