Structural Steel Press Box for the University of Cincinnati Baseball Stadium

Avenue Fabricating, Inc. developed and manufactured this featured structural steel press box for the University of Cincinnati Baseball Stadium. Three pipe columns, composed of 1" rolled plate which were welded together, were necessary to support the press box. We manufactured the guardrails out of 1" squares with ¾" square pickets-approximately 300 LF. The featured handrail, approximately 200 LF, was manufactured of ½ schedule 40 pipe. All structural steel was primed and finish coated in the adjacent field, and the guardrails and handrails were painted black with a 3-coat epoxy system.

Other materials we used included: wide flange beams A992; channels and squares grade A36; plate grade 50; and pipe grade A500-GrB. Throughout welding and metal fabrication we upheld a tight tolerance of 1/16", and the total job required 400 tons of material. From start to finish, the project ran 12 months.
